This is Mommy's favorite part of the battle Pickett's (and Pettigrew's) Charge:
Pappy and Wyatt take a walk on the battlefield (Union side):
Wyatt and Pappy pose in front of a cannon:
This was one of the funniest parts of the trip, Wyatt fell in love with the statue of Gen. George Meade. He would run up the hill and stare at him and then run back down and then turn around and run right back up. He would touch the statue and waive to the General and then pose for a picture. This went on for several minutes (I have many many pictures of Wyatt and this statue now), then he ran up to the statue and started marching in front of it:
Pappy and Wyatt take a break un front of the Commander Monument (this had a listing of the Commanders who were lost in the battle of Gettysburg.) Wyatt looks so proud sitting there with Pappy.
Wyatt ready to load the cannon:
Wyatt had fun playing under the artiltary cart, well until he bumped his head:
The last survivor of the Grand Army of the National Republic statue, Wyatt was really into this one:

Wyatt soothes a very pensive Abe Lincoln:
I think all three of us had a blast at Gettysburg and there was so much to see we didn't even get to do it all (sounds like we may have to plan another trip up there). After the museum we drove over to Little Roundtop and took a look at the Joshua Chamberlain statue (Mommy always liked him and his funny mustache). Since Wyatt was sleeping we decided not to get out of the car but just to do a little driving tour. It was so great to see Wyatt taking an interest in history especially at this young age. He just loved every minute of it. He insisted we stop at every monument so Mommy jokingly said "Good thing we didn't take him to the National Cemetery we would have had to stop at each gravestone".
There is still so much more to see and I know we can't wait to go back, it was the perfect way to spend the day!

We have a driving tour of Gettysburg on CD if you ever want to borrow it. It's great b/c it's self-paced and there are lots of opportunities to get out and explore. we were just there last week, too :)
Awesome that sounds great! My dad and I are sort of history buffs so we are always looking to go up to Gettysburg. It is such an amazing battle and the battlefield is so pretty. The new Visitor's Center just blew us away. It was a great way to share our love of history with Wyatt (before he is old enough to get bored- LOL)
