Beach Time Part 2- Wyatt & the Jersey Shore

We knew that Wyatt was going to be sad because William was leaving on Monday afternoon so we thought we should really plan something big for Monday and Tuesday.  Before Unlce John, Aunt Maggie, and William left we had some lunch at Atlantic Stand and toured the Ripleys Museum.  We all went in the mirror maze and Daddy, Unlce John, Poppi, and Nonna did the lazer challenge.  Daddy came in number 9 and Uncle John came in number 1 out of all the people who had done it so far that day.  The museum was really cool.  There were all sorts of neat facts and oddities.  Mommy really loved all the cool historical facts and artifacts they had there- to include a lock of Lincoln's hair which had to be removed from his head following the gunshot by J.W. Booth.   After the museum we got some yummy ice cream from Dumsers and said our goodbyes.

That night we went to the Kite Loft to try to find a nice kite for Wyatt to fly on the beach.  Wyatt liked playing with all the toys there but we decided to wait for another time to get a kite and started heading towards Adolfos new location in the Plaza hotel.

Adolfos was beautiful and they had a lot more space which made it all the more relaxing.

Their new location also had neat rocking chairs out on the front porch so you could relax and watch the water.

The next day (Tuesday) was our last day for beach vacation so we thought we would go out with a bang!  We had all sorts of fun things planned and so we started out nice and early with a surrey ride around the boardwalk.  Wyatt got to ride on a bike with training wheels for a while and did a great job but since he was just getting started we thought doing a surrey would be more fun.

After the surrey ride we drove to Fractured Prune for some hot delicious doughnuts and then headed to Lewes, DE to catch the ferry over to NJ.

Wyatt had a blast on the boat and loved getting to see all of the water all around him. He thought it was pretty funny driving the car on to the boat.

Everyone really enjoyed the boat ride and it was nice to get to spend some time on the water.  We have been wanting Wyatt to go on a boat ride for a while now.

Nonna is the Queen of the World:

We were pretty impressed with all the rides and games they had at Wildwood.  The beach didn't seem to be as nice as the ones in MD and DE but there was tons to do on the boardwalk.

Morey's Piers- there are actually three piers filled with rides and one even has a huge waterpark.  We can't wait to go back and try out some of the water rides.

Wyatt and Daddy on the flying pirate ship ride.  It took us all around the pier and we got an up close look at some of the neat water rides.

Wyatt and Mommy and Daddy on the Seagulls where Mommy and Daddy had to do all the work.  We had to power the ride the whole way like a bicycle.  It was a cool ride mixed with a great workout.

Some of the water rides we are thinking we need to go back and try soon:

Jersey Boy:

Wyatt loved learning how to do the bumper cars in Ocean City and had a blast getting to show off all his driving skills on these bumper cars:

They had lots of neat games on the pier.  Wyatt had to throw a beach ball and we had to guess what color bucket it would land in.  If we were right we won a prize.  We got it on the first try so Wyatt won this special minon from Despicable Me (a movie Wyatt is super into right now).  Here is Wyatt and Nonna taking the new minon for a walk on the boards.

Look what I caught, Pappy!

I think of all the rides on the trip by far this was Wyatt's favorite:

Nonna finally got her hot air balloon ride:

When we got back to shore in DE we were already to get a bite to eat and head back to the room to pack-up and end our awesome beach vacation.

Of course we had to end it with a bang and fortunately for us Ocean City took care of the bang for us.  Our last night there was the night OC had scheduled for fireworks on the beach.  The boards were packed with people all gathered to watch the fireworks show but we had beautiiful privagte balcony seats right from our room in Boardwalk One.

There was no better way to end a great family vacation!  Now, what to do at the beach next year?

Beach Time- OC & Rehoboth- Pt. 1

This year's Ocean City-Delaware trip was a blast!  Wyatt loved getting to hang out a lot with his best friend and favorite cousin William.  We were a little afraid the boys wouldn't be able to sleep in the same room together because they had so much fun playing but they knew that more fun was just a few winks away and even slept in -giving both sets of Mommys and Daddys lots of vacation rest.

Here are the boys showing some love out on the OC beach:

When we first arrived at the beach we were all ready to jump into some beach game fun.  We had some epic air hockey matches-Daddy vs Daddy, Cousin vs. Cousin and Mommy vs Mommy (or as I like to call it let's see how long we can keep this game going so the Daddy's have to entertain the boys in the arcade.  To explain- the Mommas have spent many tireless hours trying to keep the boys entertained while the Daddy's play their hearts out. Ahhh sweet revenge.

Here are some pics of the face offs:

The next day Mommy, Daddy, and Wyatt headed down to meet Poppi for breakfast at The Dough Roller.  It was very yummy!  Then we walked around the boards a little enjoying the beautiful sunny weather.  Since the Dew Tour was there this year the boards were very crowded at night so it was nice to get some peace and quiet in the mornings.

After breakfast we all headed over to Rehoboth Beach to do some outlet shopping and then to enjoy everyone's favorite Nicola Pizza!

Wyatt hamming it up on the race car ride at the Rehoboth Outlets:

After we were good and stuffed from the yummy Nicola Pizza we headed over to the rides and games.  William really showed off his skills on the horse racing game and Wyatt had a blast getting on all the rides with William.

Well maybe not ALL the rides.  Wyatt was pretty scared of this ride in line but Mommy made Wyatt get on the ride anyway and poor Wyatt made this face the ENTIRE ride.  William was loving every minute of it but Wyatt looked a lot like his Momma does when she is on those crazy free fall rides.

After a day filled with rides and games and a little shopping we decided to head back to OC and rest up a bit before dinner.  We were super lucky at dinner to get this special seat right by the water at the Marina Deck:

The next morning Aunt Maggie and Mommy woke up a little earlier to get the boys ready to go out on the beach to play for a while.  Wyatt and William had a blast on the beach digging in the sand, making sand castles, sword fighting with a rake and a shovel, and throwing the football around.  The boys did a pretty good job of playing and William was very nice to share his beach toys with his cousin.

This was Mommy's best attempt at recreating the Tower in England in sand.  i.e. My nerdiness coming through in my art.

Wyatt chilling on the beach with a pair of Mommy's sunglasses. Such a cool dude!

The Ws buried in the sand and just taking in the rays.   A quick parenting note, if you really pack them in it is a great way to secure your own time to lay around on the beach without having to chase a kid all around.  I fully recommend this parenting method:

After chilling out on the beach in the morning we decided to go back to the room and get ready to go out to lunch.  We tried a great pizza place and then headed up the boards to Trimpers for a full day of rides, rides, and more rides!

Wyatt got to drive the bumper car all on his own this year.  The attendant helped him learn how to drive the car and after some practice he really got it down:

Wyatt loves these rides where they whip you all around the corners really fast:

 Silly Nonna:

Wyatt and Mommy trying to stay balanced on the bridge.  I really feel for these guys they looked like they had to strain a little more when Mommy stepped on the bridge:

Aunt Maggie and the boys on the Rockin Tug:

The boys LOVED this ride!!!  They got to explore and  climb and then come sliding down a big shoot.  They kept sliding down and then heading straight back up:

Daddy and Uncle John on the Tidal Wave just as they were heading toward the first curl.

William really knows the mirror maze.  Wyatt and William were able to navigate through the maze and beat me out!  They did a great job - such smart boys!

Wyatt and William having a blast on the whip:
The new ride at Trimpers and Uncle John teasing Daddy saying he will never know what is in the outhouse prop:
Daddy getting ready for a big hit on the bumper cars:
Wacky Wyatt ready to fight some fires:
After a long day it was nice when we got to sit down at Harrison's Harborwatch and have a nice relaxing dinner.  After dinner, we headed out to try one of the awesome mini golfs they have on Coastal Hwy.  William is very into dragons right now so he picked this super cool dragon themed mini golf course:
