Happy Halloween: Trick or Treat

Wyatt really loved Halloween this year and I think he got the whole trick or treating concept. It was so great to get to see him running from door to door with a sack of candy. He was really good too. He said trick or treat and thank you to people. After trick or treating he even tried to divide up the candy and claim what was his favorites. Some things are just instinct I swear!

Earlier in the day Mommy got all dressed up in Wyatt's beard (which didn't fit him) and his Civil War cap from Gettysburg. Mommy was having a lot of fun pretending to reenact the Civil War with Wyatt. Sugar got in on the action too, she was the perfect little white rabbit...she was always running off somewhere while I was trying to take a picture.

Wyatt had a blast though. He really loved his pirate costume!

Then we went upstairs and got to see Ginny and William in their costumes. Ginny mad a super cute witch. We all ate some pizza and then waited for it to get dark so we could do some trick or treating. Wyatt and William were ready to go...

My attempt to get a group shot, but Wyatt was a little too antsy.

And awwwwwaaaaay we go...first house!

Looks like this house was a huge hit! William did a celebratory dance.

Wyatt and William head down the drive way in a race to the next house

Wyatt made sure no one dropped any of that precious candy.

The boys kept on running. They were intent on filling those sacks. and fill them they did. Wyatt could barely carry his by the end. He insisted on carrying though he didn't trust anyone with his loot...now that's a pirate for ya.

William was super great with Wyatt too. He would tell the people at the houses to make sure they didn't forget about Wyatt. And he would go up to each door and say "This is my Wyatt" what a great older cousin!

We all kept trick or treating well into the night.

And Daddy held strong taking Wyatt to each door.

At the end this pirate had some booty that was worth the work...way to pillage Pirate Bubby.

!!!!HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Millie & Aida!

Today was Millie and Aida's birthday! We started out the celebation with some duckpin bowling. The boys really liked the music the bowling alley played and thought it was the perfect time to show off their dancing skills. You can tell they were ready to Parrrrrty! We were all pumped and ready to win...

Daddy did a good job of showing Wyatt how this whole thing was done and William was like a pro
Sometimes it took a good while for their balls to get down the lane. Wyatt wasn't too into waiting he would just run right back and grab the next ball.
After bowling we all headed to Nichi Bi-kai (who really knows how to smell that) so we could have a guy fling shrimp at us...
so we could try to catch it in our mouths...

mmm...shrrrrrimp!

After we enjoyed a yummy meal we sang to the birthday girls and they made an extra special wish
And Wyatt got his wish... he was in cake Heaven

Afterwards Wyatt and William got to feed all the fishies. What beautiful koi they have.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILLIE & AIDA!!

Goddard's Halloween Celebration

Wyatt had the most special day at school today because not only was it his big Halloween Celebration but he had lots of special visitors. Mommy and Pappy, Daddy and Nonna, and Uncle John, Aunt Maggie & Cousin William all came to play with him and see him in his costume. He was such a happy little booger! One of the Mommy's brought in cupcakes and cookies and they had it all set-up so nice for the kids. They had some bug juice and Halloween goodies. But the scariest thing of all...
watching a whole group of toddlers sit and eat their snacks peacefully without restraint....SPOOOKY!

Here is our firece dinosaur/dragon saying ROARRRRRRR!!!!

Wyatt was so excited when he saw William come in to his classroom.

Even with all his friends around he just wanted to run around and play with his best friend of all, his Cousin.
Wyatt wanted to get down and run around. Poor Daddy don't get no respect.

This is Justin, he is one of Mommy's favorites and this year Justin got to participate in all the holiday fun. He made a super cute lion.

I think we all missed the parade, which happened last year too, so Wyatt and Gianna made their own parade!

All the kids gathered for Uncle Pete. He was singing a lot and the older kids really loved him. Wyatt was still a little too young I think.

So the dinosaurs went for a run around the trees.
Wyatt showing off his friend, Gianna. They are so cute and everyone at Goddard always jokes about attending Wyatt and Gianna's wedding one day.
Wyatt loved running around in the woodsy area with his buddies.
Nonna surprises Wyatt at the top of the slide...

and at the bottom, Pappy!!
Ian beat everyone down the slide and showed them all. Ian is one of Wyatt's best friends at daycare everytime I come to pick-up Wyatt he and Ian are always getting some plan together.
Wade and Wyatt getting ready to slide down the slide together.

Wade and Wyatt went down the slide together. Wade wasn't quite ready yet though and ended up going down on his tummy backwards.

Wyatt's friend Andrew loved how fast his tiger costume made him go down the slide on his tummy.

Here is Wyatt showing off his buddy, Josie, who I am pretty sure is that little girl from the Blind Melon...awesome costume choice!

What a day!!!! Wyatt was such an adoreable little dragon/dinosaur guy and loved introducing all his friends to his family. He is such a loved little man!

Arlington National Cemetery

Today Nonna, Daddy, Mommy, and Wyatt went to Arlington National Cemetery where Wyatt Great-Grandfather, Nonna's Daddy, is buried. It is a huge honor to be buried there because only veterans can be buried there. It was a beautiful day, a great way for us to learn about Wyatt's Great Grandfather on his birthday, and to honor those who have given so much for our country.
Here is Daddy, Nonna and Wyatt near his grave. Daddy is named after him: The cemetery was very peaceful and it is so powerful to see all the people who are buried there and imagine that they were once in a war in America's history. Nonna's Daddy fought in the European Theatre in World War II in 1945. Even though he didn't have to go he wanted to go and help his country in this great cause.
We also went to visit Nonna's Uncle and Aunt who are also buried here. With all this amazing history around we decided to tour the grounds.

The land which Arlington National Cemetery was built on was originally owned by George Washington Parke Custis who was the adopted son of George Washington. G.W.P. Washington built the Mansion on the property as a sort of museum so that people could come and see mementos of George Washington and America's birth. G.W.P. Washington left the mansion to his daughter Mary Custis who moved into the mansion with her husband, Robert E. Lee. (what a historian's dream how these two prominent revolutionary families join in marriage so many years later when America was just about to have another huge breakthrough). At the onset of the Civil War it was advised that Mary Custis quietly gather up her father's collection of Washington memoriabile. Shortly after the Union seized the Custis-Lee mansion. The dead Union soldiers were piling up and there was no where for them to bury their dead. Union Major General Meigs, who held a huge grudge against Lee for refusing the Union command at the start of the war and choosing to fight for the South over preserving the Union, suggested that they use Lee's grounds to buy their dead. Robert E. Lee never returned to the Custis-Lee mansion. And In 1892 Union Major General Meigs was buried there.
Perhaps one of the most beautiful scenes in Arlington is the resting place of John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy and their two children. They call it The Eternal Flame. It was amazing I learned here what strength Jackie Kennedy really had. Apparently she lost an infant child in August of 1963 and then lost her husband just a few months later.

The tomb of the unknown soldiers being guarded. It was a breath-taking sight as you stood on the steps and the landscape in front of you was all of Washington, DC.
There were a lot of quiet zones and I must say for a toddler Wyatt did quite well at observing them but I think about 5 minutes into the tomb of the unknown soldiers Wyatt got a little restless.

So Nonna and Wyatt took a walk around while Daddy went to get the car.

Wyatt and Nonna even played a very challenging game with the benches.

Afterward we went to Georgetown and had dinner at Johnny Rockets and then took a peaceful walk around the C&O Canal.

where Wyatt got to see all the ducks.

It was quite a day and something that Daddy and Mommy thought would make a great tradition.
